What do you look for when hirning in Data, Analytics and future technology?

Having set Data and Analytics teams from scratch several times, I had the opportunity to hire and shape teams.

Below are few things that I made sure to consider:

  1. That I am not hiring another me. This may happen subconsciously so be aware of it as you want more than your skills. A strong team is a diverse team.
  2. Having people in the team who can cover my weaknesses and my strengths cover their weaknesses.
  3. Creating a team that challenges me and can create an environment of growth for everyone in the team including myself.
  4. Hiring for culture fit and values
  5. Not hiring just for technicality, have a team whose is hungry to learn and improve.
